imagine seeing this when you arrive ......

got the call…7.6metres and offshore..get here.. 3 hr drive 2.5 hr flight and i’m back in the land of the long white cloud…

my mate matt land picks me up.. jetski in tow ..blind folds on… drive south for hours and end up sleeping in our board covers

with every bit of clothing on…full moon and the sound of bombing sets gives me an anxious night sleep but as soon as we could

see the ocean all the travel was worth it..

10 to 12 feet of indo like glass …slabbing 20 ft faces and just the boys out… waves tubing and spitting into the channel…
we score some sick ones and some heavy beatings…i get one that crushes me and gives my neck a sweak that i will feel for a week..

matt goes deep every time … hes surfed the wave before and scores the barrell of the day…
we surf till the wind comes up and head back…its only day 1 i think its going to be a good trip……..

                                                                                                                                                                     Matt Land charging

Another Day in Paradise

June 29th, 2009

cold winter offshores and sun ….stoked…timmy taplin makes the call and work is off..crazy perfect barrells hugging the reef .,,,

tubes blowing out so hard its hard to stay on the board….sets are slow but when they come its insane…

timmy is pulling in hard and scores a double barrell that spits out twice as he exits the vortex..

byron bartlett, dylan longbottom, dean bowen complete a star studded lineup.. first wave I am to excited …

turn in the wrong spot and are pitched out with the lip and summersaut into oblivion…i manage a couple

but on 1 , the tube spits . i cant see a thing and i stop dead and fly over the falls.

as i pop up next to another guy who had fallen…i ran over his board…my metal fins have cut right through his board

from one side to the other…sooo lucky for him but not his borrowed board…

we surf till dark and are all smiles ..what a day…
